Choosing between them
Hotels in Torrey, Utah
Every hotel in Torrey Utah is within a few minutes of every other one, so location is not the thing that decides this. What decides it is whether you need a kitchen, a pet room, a pool, a late desk, a charger or a bed in February. This page sorts them by that, not alphabetically.
Start here
Location is not the variable
Torrey is a mile of Main Street and a stretch of Highway 24. The furthest property from the park is maybe ten minutes further out than the closest. Nobody should be paying a premium for proximity here, and any listing that leads with distance to the park is telling you nothing.
What actually varies is small and specific. Whether there is food on site, which matters more than it sounds when the restaurant you planned on has closed for the season. Whether there is a kitchen, which decides a week long stay. Whether pets are welcome and at what price. Whether anyone is at the desk when you arrive at eleven at night off a long drive. And whether the place is open at all in January.
One honest note before the tables. Only one property in Torrey publishes its nightly rates, and it is an RV park. Everything else quotes on request or through a booking site, so we have not put prices in here that we cannot stand behind. Compare rates yourself, and use these pages to work out which two or three to compare.
Looking wider than hotel rooms? The lodging hub covers every property in town including RV parks, plus the base towns nearby and the campgrounds inside the park.
The decision table
Start from what you need
Every entry is taken from the property's own website in September 2026. Where a property does not publish something, this table says so rather than filling the gap.
| If you need | Look at | Because |
|---|---|---|
| Food on site, so a closed restaurant cannot ruin the evening | The Rimrock Inn, Broken Spur, Red Sands, The Noor | The Rimrock runs two venues, a fine dining room and a casual patio with live music. Broken Spur has its steakhouse, Red Sands the Rock Garden Eatery and Bar, and the Noor a restaurant plus a gas station on the same site |
| A kitchen for a longer stay | Casitas at Capitol Reef, Cowboy Homestead Cabins | Casitas run kitchenettes and full kitchens with self check in across about twelve units. Cowboy Homestead has kitchenettes and outdoor barbecues on 150 acres |
| To arrive very late | Days Inn by Wyndham, or Casitas | The Days Inn publishes a 24 hour front desk, which nothing else in town does. Casitas offers self check in, which solves the same problem differently |
| A pet to come with you | The Rimrock, Red Sands, The Noor | The Rimrock is the clearest at $30 a night for up to two pets. Red Sands keeps two designated pet rooms in each wing and the Noor lists pet rooms. Torrey Schoolhouse takes none |
| An accessible room | Skyview, Torrey Schoolhouse, Casitas | Skyview lists an accessible king with a roll in shower. The Schoolhouse's ground floor Garden Room is wheelchair accessible. Casitas has an ADA studio. Confirm your specific needs by phone |
| To charge an electric car | Skyview, Broken Spur, The Rimrock, Torrey Schoolhouse | Skyview lists four charging stations, Broken Spur a Level 2 charger, the Rimrock Tesla chargers, and the Schoolhouse EV charging. This is the single most useful thing to confirm before booking out here |
| A bed in December or January | Red Sands, and check the rest | Red Sands publishes year round opening. Broken Spur is shut December and January, Torrey Schoolhouse runs April to October, and the Rimrock closes from late October to the third weekend of March |
| To book a tour from the same desk | Skyridge Inn, Thousand Lakes | Two outfitters work out of the Skyridge address, and Thousand Lakes has Jeep rentals on site. Both remove a phone call from your Cathedral Valley day |
| The dark sky, without driving anywhere | Skyview, Red Sands, Cowboy Homestead | Skyview is built around the theme with a rooftop stargazing terrace. Red Sands has a star deck. Cowboy Homestead sits on 150 unlit acres. See the dark sky guide |
| The simplest cheap bed | Motel Torrey, Wonderland RV Park cabins | Motel Torrey is renovated rooms with private baths and nothing else. Wonderland publishes cabins at $59 to $84, the only rates anyone in town puts in public |
With children
The family picks, and why

Best for restless kids
Capitol Reef Resort
Fifty eight acres with rooms, cabins, teepees and Conestoga wagons, a heated pool and hot tub, and dining on site. The wagons have no television, which is either the appeal or the problem depending on the child.
Pool and playground
Broken Spur Inn
Indoor pool and hot tub so weather does not matter, a playground, a hot breakfast and a steakhouse attached. Five minutes from the park entrance. Closed December and January.
Cook your own
Casitas at Capitol Reef
Kitchenettes and full kitchens, self check in, and a larger courtyard casita sleeping up to seven. The answer for a family staying several nights who would rather not eat out every evening.
Space to run
Thousand Lakes RV Park
Twenty two acres with a pool, playground, basketball court, laundry and a barbecue restaurant, plus cabins and tent sites. Jeep rentals on the same site.
Supplies attached
Austin's Chuckwagon Lodge
Motel rooms, suites and cabins with a pool and spa, and a general store, bakery and deli on the same site. Where you buy the trail food for tomorrow without a second stop.
With a dog
Wonderland and Sand Creek RV parks
Wonderland has a fenced dog run and takes two pets per site, though not in the cabins. Sand Creek takes dogs and cats. Remember pets cannot come on park trails.
Without children
Couples, quiet and the upper end
The two bed and breakfasts
Torrey Schoolhouse is a 1914 schoolhouse with nine rooms, a hot organic breakfast at half past eight with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free by arrangement, guests aged twelve and up, and no pets. Open April to October. It is the most characterful room in town and the least suitable for a family.
Skyridge Inn has six rooms on sixty acres three minutes from the park entrance, with a hot breakfast, private decks and a hot tub. Two outfitters run from the same address, so a tour is a conversation rather than a booking.
The upper end
Cougar Ridge Resort is the most expensive thing in the area, a grand lodge and villas with a pool, spa and massage, about ten minutes out of town. It is where weddings happen here.
Red Sands is the other end of luxury, a 64 room hotel with the only full spa for a long way, an indoor pool, a restaurant with a full bar, a yoga studio and a star deck. It is also the one property that publishes year round opening, which makes it the default winter answer.
The one nobody expects
Skyview Hotel is built around Torrey's dark sky designation, with a rooftop stargazing terrace, skylight domes, custom art and breakfast delivered to the room. Given the town's lighting ordinance caps outdoor light at 3000 K and requires full cutoff fixtures, a hotel designed for looking up is a genuinely local idea rather than a marketing one. The rules behind it are on the town guide.
Before you book
Four things worth confirming on the phone
Whether the restaurant is open
A hotel being open and its restaurant being open are different questions here. Broken Spur runs dinner early March to mid November. The Rimrock's dining room closes late October and its patio runs to Thanksgiving.
The pet policy, in writing
Pet rules change more often than anything else on a small property. Confirm the fee, the number allowed and whether cabins are excluded, as they are at Wonderland.
Cash before you arrive
We could not confirm a bank branch or reliable ATM in Torrey from any dependable source. Draw cash before you get here, especially if you are paying a fruit self pay station or a small operator.

Straight answers
Torrey hotel questions
What is the best hotel in Torrey, Utah?
There is no single answer, which is why this page is a matrix rather than a ranking. Red Sands is the largest and the safest winter bet, Capitol Reef Resort and Broken Spur suit families, Torrey Schoolhouse and Skyridge suit couples, and Casitas suits anyone staying several nights who wants a kitchen.
Which Torrey hotels are pet friendly?
The Rimrock Inn at $30 a night for up to two pets, Red Sands with two designated pet rooms in each wing, and the Noor with pet rooms listed. Both Wonderland and Sand Creek RV parks take pets, though Wonderland does not allow them in cabins. Torrey Schoolhouse takes none. Confirm at booking.
Is there a hotel with a pool in Torrey?
Several. Red Sands and Broken Spur have indoor pools and hot tubs, so weather is not a factor. Capitol Reef Resort has a heated outdoor pool and hot tub, Cougar Ridge a pool and spa, Austin's Chuckwagon a pool and spa, and the Days Inn an indoor heated pool.
Which Torrey hotels stay open in winter?
Red Sands publishes year round opening. Broken Spur closes December and January, Torrey Schoolhouse runs April to October, and the Rimrock Inn closes from the last weekend of October to the third weekend of March. Everything else does not publish a season, so call.
Can I charge an electric car in Torrey?
Yes, at several properties. Skyview lists four charging stations, Broken Spur a Level 2 charger, the Rimrock Tesla chargers and Torrey Schoolhouse EV charging. Confirm the connector type when you book, because this is remote country to get wrong.
How much do hotels in Torrey cost?
Only one property in town publishes rates, Wonderland RV Park, at $56 to $62 for an RV site, $40 for tent camping and $59 to $84 for a cabin. Everyone else quotes on request or through a booking site, so we do not publish figures we cannot stand behind.
Do I need to book far ahead?
For October, yes, because it is the month everyone wants. Beyond that, be skeptical of any site telling you a specific lead time. Nobody publishes a room count for Torrey, so nobody can honestly tell you how fast the town fills.
Every amenity, season and policy on this page comes from the property's own website, checked September 2026. The seasonal pattern behind it is the National Park Service's own observation on its local services page, that many local businesses close during the winter off season and on Sundays year round. Nothing here is paid placement and we take no commission.

Two or three to compare, not twenty
Pick the one thing that actually matters for your trip, take the two properties that answer it, then compare rates on those alone.
